Teaching practice phase 2 (week 3)

This week was eventful, starting with a special assembly where the inauguration of the electric bell took place, adding a modern touch to the school’s infrastructure. The assembly was also a proud moment for the students, as the prize distribution for the Kalolsavam winners was held, celebrating their hard work and performances during the cultural festival. In class, I continued teaching “The Nightingale and the Rose,” and the students remained engaged with the material, offering thoughtful responses and participating actively in the activities. Midweek, I had an observation by Nadeem sir, who provided positive feedback on my teaching methods, which was encouraging and motivating. Overall, the combination of celebrations, recognition, and constructive feedback made for a fulfilling week.

This week, I continued with the lesson “The Nightingale and the Rose,” and it was encouraging to see the students actively engaging in the activities, contributing their thoughts and ideas to the class discussions. A highlight of the week was a special assembly organized for Children’s Day, which brought the school together in celebration. Additionally, the students attended an informative class on health and nutrition, which provided valuable insights into maintaining a balanced diet. The week was made even more special when the school served chicken curry for lunch, a rare treat for the students. As teacher trainees, we assisted with the preparation of the meal, adding to the sense of community. I also had an observation session with Shiny teacher, who provided helpful feedback, particularly emphasizing the need for better time management in my lessons, which I will work on improving. Overall, it was a fulfilling and eventful week.

Teaching practice phase 2 (week 1)

This week, with only three days of class, I introduced the eighth-standard students to the poem “First Showers,” focusing on its vivid imagery and themes that celebrate the beauty of rain and nature. The students seemed to enjoy the discussion, connecting the poem to their own experiences of the monsoon season. In addition to teaching, the trainee teachers, including myself, were actively involved in helping students get ready for Kalolsavam, the annual cultural festival. It was a vibrant atmosphere filled with excitement as we assisted them in dressing up for various performances, from traditional dance to music, ensuring they were confident and prepared. The blend of academics and cultural activities made the week both enriching and lively.

Practicum

Practicum is a practical, hands-on experience that is part of a course of study, allowing students to apply their knowledge and skills in real-life settings. Expository texts are instrumental in language development, as they introduce new vocabulary and technical terms across a variety of subjects. These texts provide readers with access to specialized language used in fields like science, history, and technology, which helps expand their vocabulary beyond everyday language. Exposure to new words and phrases in context aids in both understanding and retention, which is essential for students and individuals looking to enhance their communication skills in academic or professional environments. Moreover, expository texts offer complex sentence structures and varied grammatical forms that help readers develop more sophisticated language skills. Unlike narrative texts, which tend to follow a straightforward storytelling style, expository texts often use more intricate sentence const...

ICT lesson plan

Image
An ICT (Information and Communication Technology) lesson plan is a structured outline designed to integrate technology into teaching and learning.   The lesson plan often includes activities like using computers, the internet, multimedia presentations, or educational software to make learning more interactive, engaging, and relevant to modern technology. The goal is to develop students’ digital skills while supporting their learning in other subject areas.

SUPW

As a B.Ed student, engaging in Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) has been an enlightening experience that has enriched both my personal and professional growth. SUPW not only emphasizes the importance of contributing meaningfully to society but also integrates practical learning with theoretical knowledge. Engaging in Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) as a B.Ed student I made scrunchies out of waste clothes which is very useful for everyone .Beyond the technical aspects, the project underscored the importance of sustainability and creativity in educational activities. It also provided an opportunity to reflect on the value of handmade goods and their potential impact on the community, fostering a sense of accomplishment and responsibility in contributing to sustainable practices. This experience not only enriched my skills but also deepened my appreciation for hands-on learning and its role in holistic education.

Discussion lesson plan

As part of B Ed curriculum , for discussion lesson plan we students were divided into 3groups. Our group members were Neena, Anupama, Abhijith and Reshma . We discussed and shared our ideas while preparing lesson plan. A lesson planning involves structuring lessons to minimise or eliminate traditional discussions while still promoting interactive learning. This could include utilizing alternative methods such as individual reflections, written responses, small group activities, or even multimedia presentations where students engage with content and demonstrate understanding without relying solely on verbal exchanges.  The primary goal is to encourage students to actively participate in thoughtful dialogue, exchange ideas, and critically analyze concepts. Such lesson plans typically include specific learning objectives, materials needed, a clear timeline, strategies for facilitating group discussions, opportunities for reflection, and methods for assessing student understandi...

E-content

E-content, or electronic content, refers to digital materials created for learning and teaching purposes. E-content makes learning more flexible and accessible, allowing students to study anytime and anywhere, often with multimedia elements that make lessons more engaging. In the e-content video on the topic of determiners, I have introduced the concept of determiners, explaining their role in sentence structure. Determiners are words that come before nouns and help provide context or specify the noun they modify. They are essential for identifying or quantifying the noun, making the meaning of sentences clearer and more precise. The video covers the importance of determiners in everyday language, highlighting how they contribute to effective communication by clarifying whether we are talking about something specific or general, and whether it belongs to someone or something. I have also explored the different types of determiners in the video, dividing them into four main c...
